SHAH ALAM, Oct 28 — A former senior executive of a government-linked company (GLC) pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here today to nine charges of using falsified documents to obtain advances and claims totalling RM15,288 between 2022 and 2023.

Mohd Nizam Ibrahim, 50, was accused of presenting fake company quotations and cash payment receipts as genuine to obtain the payments from an industry and technology research organisation.

The alleged offences took place at the organisation’s office in the Petaling district between April 22, 2022 and November 2, 2023.

The charges were framed under Section 471 of the Penal Code, punishable under Section 465 of the same code, which provides for imprisonment of up to two years, a fine, or both, upon conviction.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) prosecuting officer Mohd Alimi Mustapha proposed bail of RM20,000 with one surety and requested that the accused report to the Selangor MACC office once a month.

Mohd Nizam, who was unrepresented, sought a reduction in bail, citing his lack of a fixed income as he was currently working part-time, as well as the need to cover his wife and mother’s medical expenses.

Judge Awang Kerisnada Awang Mahmud set bail at RM10,000 with one local surety, ordered him to report to the Selangor MACC office monthly from November and fixed December 7 for mention. — Bernama
