Interpol announced Thursday that authorities from 21 countries across Africa have arrested 1,462 suspects linked to cross-border cybercrime networks in what it described as “one of Africa’s largest cybercrime enforcement operations.” The agency said the operation disrupted 10,909 malicious networks and led to the recovery of more than $105 million in illicit funds. Law enforcement identified 65,929 victims targeted by these cybercriminal networks, with investigations linking the criminal activity to losses exceeding $385 million. In Uganda alone, authorities dismantled two transnational fraud rings, arresting 365 foreign nationals linked to online investment and pension fraud schemes targeting victims across Asia.
