European authorities arrested five people in Norway and raided properties in Germany and Romania as part of an investigation into a company suspected of defrauding NATO member countries of more than 1 million euros ($1.11 million), Eurojust said Wednesday. The targeted company and its subcontractors allegedly provided shore-based support—known as husbandry services—to NATO military vessels visiting ports in northwestern Europe. The network is accused of submitting fraudulent invoices and using an intermediary to bribe foreign public officials to secure favorable contracts with the alliance. NATO's procurement agency, the NSPA, discovered the billing anomalies, triggering a cross-border probe in April 2025. Eurojust noted that the exact financial loss is still being calculated by the joint investigation team, which involves anti-corruption police and prosecutors from Norway, Romania, Germany, and the U.K.
